Who are you? We are the creative duo Bianca Bickmore and Michael Viglione known as Kid Icarus!
Where are you located? In the heart of Kensington Market.
What do you/your business/your product do? We are screen printers and operate Kid Icarus where we sell handmade goods made by local artists, letterpresses cards, stationery, screen printed posters, along with other handmade goods.
We also have a print department located in the back of our store, if you are lucky you might catch us printing a project.
What gets you pumped about doing what you do? Running our own business is hard work especially with the mixed retail / printshop workspace. When we print up new things to sell or hand off a print job to a client, the excitement in people's eyes is something that gets us pumped up. Most people are generally super excited about the work we do and their enthusiasm is the ultimate pay off.
What does your sponsorship for the show entail? We screen printed the promo posters and vendor call out postcards for City of Craft this year.
What are you crafting this holiday season (festive beverages & baked goods count)? We just finished an intense printing session, our annual art calendar featuring 12 different artists, all printed here in house by hand. Bianca will be working on a cookie dough trade-off and Mike is prototyping his paint-by-number project.
When City of Craft (and other awesome indie shows) is not on, where do you go for your crafty fix? Readymade blog, Craft blog, Instuctables, all great websites on a cold night. West end to east end shops that carry locally made goods are all on our list of places to visit.
